DHFYE Summer Experience

What is the DHFYE Summer Program?

All incoming First-Time, First-Year students are invited to the Dominguez Hills First-Year Experience (DHFYE) Summer Program! DHFYE supports your transition into college and gives you a head start on earning credits towards your degree. You will be able to take up to two FREE General Education courses while participating in fun activities and supportive workshops. In addition, in recognition of your effort and commitment to your education, for each summer course you successfully pass with a grade of a C or better, you will receive a $150 scholarship and be entered into an opportunity drawing for a chance to win ONE of these – an iPad, a parking pass, a bookstore gift card, meal/dining card, university swag bag, or similar item. 

Courses in Cultural Anthropology, Entrepreneurship, Global Dance, Physical Geology, Child Development, Elemental Statistics and Probability, Music, Moral Programs, Women's Studies, and Rhetoric and Revolution are specifically designed to engage you and your fellow Toros. They include co-curricular activities and they provide information about important campus resources and policies.

Participate in DHFYE to gain an intimate college learning experience, work closely with your instructor and peers, and learn insights to navigating your way through CSUDH. Here are just some of the benefits of participating in DHFYE:

• Meet and build relationships with faculty and staff members
• Become acquainted with the Cultural Centers and Student Support Resources
• Build community with their assigned Peer Mentor and Academic Advisor
• Participate in fun and interactive activities (i.e., College Knowledge Workshops, Toro Tuesdays, and Mental Health and Wellness sessions)
• Get a head start for their first year and get on the pathway to graduate in four years.
